HEATHWOOD GARDENS, SE7
REAR KITCHEN EXTENSION WITH SHOWER ROOM AND POND
Context
The owners of this terraced Victorian house are a young professional couple who enjoy socialising with friends and family and often have large gatherings at home, of around a dozen people. They therefore require a larger kitchen with an island, dining space with a seating area and a shower room with wc. And washing facilities. The proposal is therefore to now after the pre-app advice propose a side infill extension the same depth of the end of the outrigger that exists around 6m deep and a bay extension off the outrigger back wall extending 1.7m.
The main concept was to have a central spine with glass skylight above and dining table below that runs along the first-floor side wall of the outrigger. A dining area is kept open for an extendable table, with a pair of glass doors behind at the rear. There is a seating area that protrudes 1.7m from the rear line of the back of the outrigger. The extension dining infill which extends 6m from the back of the house lines through with the back of the outrigger at 6m deep. The bay that forms the dining area is accessed via passing the kitchen area with island and protrudes into the garden.
