Context

Encombe House in Dorset, was once the estate of Lord Eldon, whose daughter eloped with Landscape Architect, Humphrey Repton. The grounds are filled and surrounded by architectural follies and has a lake as its central feature with a Grecian poolside temple overlooking it. Following in the romantic vein of the present owner’s Great Grandma a loveseat/arbour was proposed as a feature to link disparate elements. This new architectural element in combination with a new wall better contained the pool area; whilst also offering views to connect it with the lake and other pavilions in the grounds.
