KITCHEN EXTENSION, STONE ARCHITRAVE, LOFT CONVERSION

context

The proposal was to convert the kitchen and loft of this Grade II Listed House and to construct a new French door opening and stone architrave for the existing living room. Also general refurbishment has been undertaken to improve the spaces and flow through them. The proposed works are largely contained within the rear elevations of the building and it is argued that they will result in an enhancement of the building and thus make a positive contribution to the conservation area as well as leaving the settings of those adjacent listed building unharmed. The new roof light and dormer have both reflect existing historic forms and was deemed acceptable without harm being caused to the setting or adjacent assets or the character or appearance of the conservation area. The rooflight will also be well detailed and relatively diminutive and the demonstrable benefits in terms of enabling use of the roof space is argued to outweigh any level of harm caused to the area or neighbours.
